Riding the Wave ... And the Trough

I am mentally ill, diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder I, OCD, ADHD, PTSD and a vitamin B12 deficiency (a key element in brain development). For over 12 years, I took anywhere from 5-8 psychotropic meds each day, and have been recently giving myself a monthly injection of B12.

In January 2012 I was hospitalized for depression, and management of my currrent med cocktail. Immediately all but two of my meds were discontinued and, after a few weeks of adjustment, and some near hospitalizations, things seem to be going much better.

I have been on permanent disability since January 2010, and am adjusting to life on a very limited income.

My prayer is that in walking with me during the ups and downs of Bipolar Disorder, you might find solace, and benefit through my experiences.

"Lord, Hold Me Close"

I found out earlier this week that I will be pastoring two small churches, effective July 01. The nice thing is they area only 12 miles from home. The average attendance is 20 in one church and 50 in the other. The bad thing is that, together, the churches only amount to part-time. The salary is a little better, but only because there are no benefits. That is a bad thing.

Thank you Pres"O", for caring enough about the uninsured and the uninsurable to stand your ground, among the critics and fat cats who are only concerned about themselves. However it doesn't kick in soon enough to benefit Connie or me. As a pastor, I am not eligible for COBRA. But the church has a similar program called "Continuance", which is basically the same. The cost will nearly put us under.

Our house is back on the market, and we pray that it sells soon. We have enough equity to pay off our bills, buy a place in Florida* and have a some $ to bank. I understand that we're better off than nearly 66% of Americans. That is the sad, sad truth.

* Recently we spent 12 days in Florida; 2 days in Destin with my parents, three days in Swiss Village (retirement village) and 4 days in the Orlando area, with 3 of those spent in Disney World.
